The Entry Level Semi-Skilled Workers pilot project for British Columbia has been
extended until August 31-2011. The Entry Level Semi-Skilled Worker program applies
to select occupations and eligible employers in the tourism and hospitality, long
haul trucking industries, and to qualifying foreign workers. If you are unsure whether

Applicants in the above occupations, with the exception of long-haul truck drivers
must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for this category of immigration:
- Be employed in the eligible occupations listed above by the sponsoring company on
a temporary work permit for at least 9 months before applying for this nominee program;
- Be legally employed by the sponsoring company at the time of the application.
Applications for Long-Haul Trucking
Long haul truckers need to meet the following requirements:
- Be employed by the sponsoring company as a long-haul truck driver on a temporary
work permit for a minimum of nine months before applying to the nominee program;
- Be legally employed by the sponsoring company when submitting the application
- Have a minimum of two years of experience as a long-haul truck driver. This experience
must be within three years of submitting the application
- Have a valid BC Class 1 driver’s license and any other certification required

In order to be issued a visa, all candidates must meet criminal and medical admissibility

Applicants may be required to attend an interview at the Canadian Consulate General
in Seattle.
