About the Medical Examination

As we all know, Canada is a nation with high-quality health care, and a welfare system covering all its people. To ensure the health of the whole nation no one would be allowed to enter the territory of Canada until he/she is ensured to be healthy. Therefore, having a medical examination has become a must part of your immigration process. Applications for permanent residence will not be approved if his/her health is dangerous to public health or safety, or would use a large quantity of the health or social services in Canada. Additionally, even if your dependants are not coming with you to Canada, they must also pass the medical examination.

Details for the examination:

1. How to take a medical examination?
Do not worry about this as the relevant instructions will be sent to you after your application submission to the visa office. Just do as you are told to do.

2. How long would the examination results be valid?
The period of validity of the result only lasts for 12 months from the day of the examination. It means that you’ll have to take another examination if you are not admitted to Canada as a permanent resident within that 12 month period.

3. Who can be authorized doctors?
Only physicians listed on Canada’s Designated Medical Practitioners list are authorized doctors.

Results of a Medical Examination

The doctor will not tell you the result of your medical examination unless you have a health-related problem. So no news here is the best news. Your medical reports and X-rays for the medical examination would be saved as the property of the Canadian Immigration Medical Authorities. It is not the authorized doctor, but Citizenship and Immigration Canada who judges on whether you have passed the medical examination.
