Regulated and Non-Regulated Occupations

In general, occupations can be divided into two categories, Regulated and Non-regulated. Regulated professions and trades are always related to protecting public health and safety, for example, working as nurses, engineers, physicians, electricians and teachers, all of which approximately amounts 20% of the Canadian work force.

Commonly, if you are going to pursue a job in a regulated occupation, you will have to have your credentials (degrees and diplomas) assessed and recognized, or take additional courses or complete examinations successfully, or take a job-specific language test; even when working for a specified period under supervision. As for most Skilled Worker immigrants, we believe the requirements on education, training, practical experience, etc, will not be too difficult. Here we’d like to remind you that it could be expensive for you to write assessment examinations.

To have a good knowledge of all the regulated occupations would be a large task, and it is also unnecessary and not worthwhile. Our company provides you with specialists who are good at analyzing working situations. Come to us for information about any regulated profession that interests you, either professional engineers, registered nurse or and other ones.

Skilled Worker immigrants may also take on occupations that are not regulated. Requirements for such positions are made by the employers. We would likely be able to offer you help according to your own case.
