MARRIAGE IN MOLDOVA
If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or citizen and wish to get married in Moldova to a citizen of Moldova, these are the documents you must submit to Moldavian authorities in order to be able to have a marriage in Moldova. These are the documents that are required by the government of Moldova in order to be married in Moldova to a Moldavian citizen:
- Original birth certificate
- Certificate affirming your single-status
- Criminal record search
- Valid passport
- If applicable, a copy of dissolution of previous marriages (divorce judgement or death certificate)
Once you have gathered all these documents, they will have to be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Afterwards, your documents must be legalized by the Embassy of Moldova in Washington, D.C. There is no Moldavian Embassy in Canada. Once your documents have been legalized, you will be ready for travel to Moldova. Prior to your marriage in Moldova, you should translate your documents. This can be done by a certified translating agency in Canada or Moldova.
