MARRIAGE IN LITHUANIA
If you wish to marry a Lithuanian citizen in Lithuania, these are the documents you must submit to Lithuanian authorities in order to get married in Lithuania. These are the documents required by the government of Lithuania in order to get married in Lithuania to a Lithuanian citizen:
- Valid Passport
- Birth Certificate
- Document issued by a competent authority that there are no legal impediments to marry
- If applicable, proof of dissolution of previous marriage(s)
- Receipt of payment of fees
Please note that all documents (except for your passport and receipt) must be translated into the Lithuanian language. They must also be legalized by provincial authorities.

The following information is provided by the Lithuanian Consulate:
An alien who applies for registration of marriage in the Republic of Lithuania must submit the following documents:
- A valid passport
- A birth certificate
- A divorce certificate (if divorced) or death certificate of spouse (if a widow/widower)
- A document issued by a competent authority of his/her country certifying that there are no obstacles to contracting a marriage;
- A receipt of paid due.
These documents (except for the passport and receipts of paid due) must be translated into the Lithuanian language and legalized according to the established procedure, if not otherwise provided for by international agreements of the Republic of Lithuania.
Foreign nationals must contact a competent body of their country for legalization of documents.
