Have turned in most recent version of the family sponsorship paperwork, sent it off first week of January 2017, haven't heard anything back from CiC, don't know if we should be concerned or if it is normal not to hear back at all in 6 months.

I think it's pretty standard but you can always submit a Case Specific Enquiry to the office processing your application to see if you can get an update.
