An American on a tourist visa marries a Canadian citizen...what forms do they file?

I have not been able to reach anyone at the Canadian Immigration offices to ask if an American in Canada on a visitor visa marries a Canadian citizen, what forms should then be filled out in order to become a Canadian citizen? Is a sponsor required?

The American citizen must be sponsored by their spouse for permanent residence.

That American citizen then has to live in Canada for a minimum of three years before applying for citizenship.

Thanks for responding. Is the only way to file forms by mail?Checked for local offices nearby and couldn't find one nearby in Nelson, BC.

Yes, you have to send the forms to the correct office. There is only one office which handles inland sponsorship (if that's the way you're going). You can't hand them in.
