Document Checklist- Mothers passport

Hello, I have just begun the process of registering as a British Citizen. Getting all the documents I need etc. Today I ordered my mothers birth certificate and am now wondering how I get her passport?
I was born in Canada in 1978. My mother came to canada when she was 5 and never became a Canadian, she is considered a landed immigrant. Its going to take some time to save up the fee so while I'm working on that I'd like to have all my "ducks in a row"
Thank you

Hi there,
If your mother doesn't currently have a valid passport, the best thing to do is have her renew her passport, then you'll be all set.
If your mother is deceased, then you likely do not have a copy of her passport. In this case, you'll just have to use her birth certificate plus your long form birth certificate (with her name on it). That should work, though these registration cases do require more documentation I believe.
