Hello cany anyone - especially doctors out there advise????

Im a UK anaesthesiologist with mutliple post graduate diplomas

The Medical council of canada have advised that they DO NOT provide ECAs for post graduate diplomas in specialties - such as the UK board anaesthesiology exams

They advised me to go to other "Medcial regulatory authorities"

So I asked the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians or Canada - they do NOT provide ECAS FOR POST GRAD MEDICAL DIPLOMAS

I asked the provincial regulatory bodies such as the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Novao Scotia British Columbia and Manitoba and Nova Scotia - NONE provide ECAs for any post graduate medical diplomas

I contacted the standard companies -WES and ICAS - they do not either

Does anyone out there know how to get an ECA for specialist medical diplomas - such as tthe UK equivalent of anaesthesiology board exams???

I cannot believe that I am blocked by non-recognition of my specialisations training which aamaounted to a lot of hard advanced training and exams!!!!!!

My CRS score for express entry is far too low and I cannot increase it without further ECAs- In any instance I feel that these diplomas SHOULD be recognised , just as a postgrad degree in any other subejct is easliy credentially assessed

Please do not suggest MCC of Cananda - they have told me REPEATEDLY they only do ECAs for the basic undergrad medcial degree

Thankyou!

What is your CRS score?

I have a dumb question: does the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Canada (or equivalent provincial body) not provide ECAs because your diplomas are already recognized by default? (I don't think this is true, I just wondered if it could be.)

So MCC told you to go somewhere else and they didn't tell you where. Did you speak to someone on the phone or do it by email?

Hi there - very grateful for your contact!!

Ye sI spoke to the MCC personally and wrote to them - unbelivebaly they have confirmed and reconfirmed that the WILL NOT provide ECAs for postgrad medical degrees - its unbelievable

They said that I should ask the provincial colleages and other egulaltory bodies of medicine . The only other regulaltory bodye which applies to me is the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

So my CRS score is 340 - around that number..... this is inclusive of language test and also assuming that the MCC ECA of my basic undergrad degree is done.
I have read that you can increase your score with more ECAs - but the MAIN point is - why on earth can I not have my postgrad anaesthesiology specialsit training and diploma recognised?????
Thes are HUGE exams - and they are simply ignored by Canadian authroities?

I wonder why I am even bothering if they fail to recognise this? They want foreign skilled workers - so how is it possible that I am sent from pillar to post by these organisations.

SORRY FOR THE RANT ;FRUSTRATED AND FEEL TOTALLY UNSUPPORTED BY THE IMMIGRATION PROCESS AS A DOCTOR

To anser your auestions about my diplomas already being recognised - no medical regulatory authority which I coantacted or any ofh the credential assessment organisations have given me ANY explanations other than " they simply dont do it" " go to......;and try there"

I'm sorry to say I don't know what you should do. This is very surprising to me and doesn't make a lot of sense. I have a few guesses:
  • One thing you could do is to contact a Canadian university (or two) which offers an equivalent program and ask them if they know anything. It likely depends upon who you speak to as to the quality of the answer you will get.
  • You could call IRCC (1-888-242-2100) and ask them what you are supposed to do. I'm not sure you will get a good answer, but I don't honestly know. (Please note you will be on hold for a long time.)
  • It might be worth it to pay for a consultation (some offer free consultations) with an immigration lawyer or consultant (RCIC) because one of them might know the answer. You'll want to make sure the consultant has a lot of experience with FSW applications through Express Entry and, preferably, ECAs.
  • The only other thing I can think of is to speak to someone at either MCC or the Royal College who is more senior than the people you spoke to, i.e. ask to speak to a manager/administrator. It's possible, though I guess not likely, that you could a bad answer from a junior staff persons.
Sorry to say that's all I got. I wish I could be more helpful. This seems absurd.
