HELP SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP

PLEASE I HAVE A QUESTION. I am Canadian and my Fiance is Nigerian, I also live in Toronto, Canada. We are getting married March next year in Nigeria and after the wedding I am coming back to start the spousal sponsorship process.
It usually takes close to a year (I don't know if this is true) for the process to be done. My question is can i apply for a visitors visa for my fiance(husband at that time) pending the time the process is done, so that we can be together. If yes, any idea on how it would be done?

Thank you so much for your anticipated timely response.

Once the border restrictions are lifted it will still be very unlikely that he will get a visa. If he applies before you submit your sponsorship application, he will only be approved he can conslusively demonstrate his intention to return to Nigeria. If you've already submitted the sponsorship application they will believe he is applying for a visa to come live with you and so they will likely deny it.
