Moving to Canada

Hello,

Planning to move to Canada next month. Me and wife have valid PR cards which will expire in March 2023. We got our PR cards in Feb 2018. We haven't completed our minimum residency requirement (730 days) yet. Is it ok to move to Canada since we are very close to our 730 day Period requirement starting in March 2021 and ending in March 2023 ( 730 days starting from March 2021) ?

Also, will there be any issues with renewal process when we renew the cards after completing minimum 730 day obligation ?

Appreciate your help

Yes, it's okay to move to Canada now. You can do so as long as your cards are valid. However, the longer you wait - the closer you are to failing to meet the residence requirement - the more of a hassle you will have at the border.

If possible I would strongly suggest applying for your new PR Cards when you are well over the 730 days (we usually recommend 1000 days). However, many organizations and employers will not recognize anything but a PR Card as proof of status.
