PR holder living in US with Canadian Citizen wife.

Hi All,

I need input from anyone who is aware of the mentioned scenario, my wife is Canadian Citizen and I got my PR based on spousal sponsorship. I have a full time job in US and I am on H1B visa and my wife is on H4 and we are living together in states.

For maintaining PR status I need to spend 2 years in Canada out of 5 years validity but I came across some links which stated that if I am living outside Canada with a Canadian Citizen spouse then the days we are spending together can be counted against maintaining PR status.

Can someone please confirm if the information is true or there is some catch related to it?

Thanks

Yes, it's true. But you have to be living together all the time. So your wife needs to be in the US full time, residing at the same address.

Make sense?

Then you should be good. You will have to provide evidence of her citizenship and your cohabitation when you renew.
