Me and my wife got the work permits(temporary worker) and got our own accommodation in Canada. But we had to travel back to India due to some family reasons in November 20. We are ready to return back to Montreal again by end of December. We are concerned if both me and my wife can travel back now following https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...avirus-covid19/foreign-workers.html#essential.

I of course having valid appointment letter and pay slip but my wife is not having job yet but got work permit but she is included in the rent agreement and got SIN. Considering current guideline can we both travel together or do I need to apply in IRCC for her to accompany me. I am not clear from the guideline provided. Appreciate your suggestion in this matter.

So, it says
"Non-discretionary refers to travel for reasons that are non-optional. The emergency orders under the Quarantine Act do not allow people to travel to Canada for optional or discretionary reasons, such as for tourism, recreation or entertainment.

As a worker, your travel is non-discretionary if you’re in either of these situations:
  • You have a valid work permit and normally live in Canada.
    • This applies even if you’ve been laid off.
  • You’re a worker who meets all of the following:
    • has a letter of introduction for a work permit (open or employer-specific)
    • has a valid job offer
    • can work once you enter Canada and complete your 14-day quarantine (unless you’re exempt)"
Do you normally live in Canada since you got your work permits? If so, that seems to qualify her through the first situation. Otherwise, she needs a job offer.

Hello Riley. Appreciate your response. Yes, we have a rented condo in Montreal, Canada and both of our name are in the agreement. We have recently moved to Canada in October 2020 but need to visit India due to family emergency. We moved from USA to Canada and she left her job there. I am currently working in Canada but she is yet to have a job.

So many people have this problem now. I hope everything will be back to normal before summer.

Well, we'll see about the numbers but vaccines are being administered already (though not very quickly). It's going to be a game time decision about the border, as cases are still really bad here right now, despite the lock down and vaccinations beginning.
