marriage in Canada
« on: July 17, 2014, 03:56:54 PM »
Hello there,
I want to marry with Canadian guy. I read that its process takes 2 years. If I marry him in Canada, the process also takes 2 years? after marriage how much can I stay in Canada as a visitor? and also our relationship is via the internet. What can I do to live with him?
thanks

If you marry him in Canada, the situation is a little different. The processing times should remain the same, however you will have the opportunity to apply for an "open" work permit after your husband is approved to sponsor you (that part usually takes 2 months). This means you can spend the entire time living together, and you can begin working in Canada long before the sponsorship is approved (if you successfully apply for the work permit, obviously). So, if inland is an option for you as a couple, it is often the more desirable one.

Does this help?
