The climate of Turkey varies greatly between the coastal areas and the Anatolian plain. The coastal areas have either a Mediterranean climate with hot summers, or a temperate Oceanic climate. The Black Sea coast gets more precipitation than the rest of the country's coastline.
The Anatolian plateau has a continental climate that experiences mild to harsh winter (from west to east).
