Canadian citizens need a visa to visit Turkey for a maximum stay of 90 days, however the visa can be applied for online. If you are a Permanent Resident of Canada, not a citizen, you may have to apply for a visa at the Embassy or Consulate nearest you.

Climate of Turkey

The climate of Turkey varies greatly between the coastal areas and the Anatolian plain. The coastal areas have either a Mediterranean climate with hot summers, or a temperate Oceanic climate. The Black Sea coast gets more precipitation than the rest of the country's coastline.

The Anatolian plateau has a continental climate that experiences mild to harsh winter (from west to east).

Ethnicity in Turkey

Because of laws and concepts peculiar to Turkey, it's hard to know exactly how many of each ethnic group in Turkey. That's because even though Turkey recognizes Greeks, Armenians and Jews as distinct ethnic minorities, it doesn't recognize Kurds as distinct, for example. In fact, most major ethnic groups in Turkey, with the exception of Armenians, Greeks and Jews, are considered "Turkish."

Visa to Turkey

If you are a citizen of Canada, or 42 other countries, you can apply for an "e-Visa" either online or at the airport upon arrival. (Be warned: the lines will be long.) If you are traveling to Turkey by land or sea, you need to apply online, ahead of time, as you cannot apply at the border or port.
