Visit visa after the Expiry of PR Card

My PR Card expired in 2014 when I was in my home country and I never tried to enter Canada after the expiry of my PR Status.
Now I am interested to visit Toronto to see my old friends.
If I apply for visit visa, is there any chance of rejection due to my expired PR Staus? Please advise.

Your status didn't expire unless it was revoke or you renounced it. Under normal circumstances you would have two choices:
  1. Formally renounce your PR status and apply for a visitor visa
  2. Travel to the United States and drive into Canada with your Record of Landing/COPR.
However, either of these will have to wait until the travel restrictions are lifted.
