Family Sponsored in 2011 - Impact of New Rules

Hello,

I sponsored my family in 2011 but I have since had a child. When they reassess my file will they use LICO or LICO + 30% (New rules) for the financial assessment?

Just to double check, when you say your family you're talking about your parents or grandparents, correct?
In that case, you should still be considered under the old LICO but the child will raise your annual income requirement to $46,850 (if your family includes you, your spouse, your child and your two parents).

Yes I am talking about Parents.

So with 5 people in total the income requirement would be $46,850? Are you aware of any communication from CIC on whether the new income requirements will apply to old cases? I have heard contradictory information about this.

I have spoken to one of our RICs and he says that no, the new income requirements should not apply to the old applications.

Since you applied in 2011, the pre-2012 rules should apply. At the bottom of this procedure manual there is a chart which shows those old rates:
