I would like to propose to my girlfriend of four years, who is a Thai living in Japan. We had a wonderful time together in Japan, but we think Canada is the best place to settle down because we both speak English well and good for employment. My Dad and I don't get along and he would not like to attend the wedding. Do you think this could be a basis for rejecting the PR application for my future wife? They may really scrutinize my application if he is nowhere to be found in photos.

Not necessarily. If the rest of your family and her family will be attending the wedding (once it is safe to do so) it shouldn't matter. If you are concerned, you can include something in your sponsorship letter about how you are estranged.
