UK status....

Hi there,
Immigrated to the UK in 1987 from Canada (married a Brit). The only immigration paper I have is an 'Entry Certificate' vignette in an old passport...not sure if I got any other confirmation. He was in the British military at the time and immigration expedited the application. Lived/worked there for 18 months (I had an NI# as well...not sure if it is still valid) and then we moved back to Canada. We want to return to the UK in the next couple of years. How do I find out what my status is?
Otherwise would I have any kind of status from my G/Parents? They were all either Scottish or English born, Mom was born in 1929 in Manitoba, Dad...not sure...his younger brother was born in the UK, but he was most like born in Canada, circa 1920/21. My DOB 1955.
Any info would be appreciated. Cheers S.

I am assuming you live in Canada. It sounds to me like you lost your UK status years ago. Generally, this is the way immigration works globally. After some time, you just lose your right to that country (in this case, the UK).

The only way would get a UK passport is IF your father was born in the UK (You will have to order or find his British Birth Certificate).

To make sure, you can try contacting UK immigration and just asking.

P.S. if you have an expired British Passport, in that case, you can apply for a Firth British Passport. You can find Free Resources on this webpage: https://britishpassport.ca/faqs/

Thank you. Sadly, I thought that might be the case.
