Get 600 points through a Provincial Nomination Program

Your provincial highway to an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence run through Express Entry, but they also wind their way through Provincial Nominee Programs or PNPs. Not every province nor territory has a PNP, but most do. So, how to choose which PNP suits your needs? And which stream within your chosen PNP is best for you?

We’ve put together a PNP Grid that links to the four main PNPs in Canada in order to keep things focused. There are around 80 total provincial streams or pilot programs from the West coast of Canada to the Prairies to Central Canada and on to the Atlantic provinces. That can be a little overwhelming, so we’ve focused on what we call the Big Four:

  • BC
  • Alberta
  • Manitoba
  • Ontario

While Quebec is clearly a key destination, it has its own immigration system, which requires French-language abilities, so we deal with it elsewhere. And the Atlantic Provinces are mostly road-testing their own PNPs. That means it makes sense to focus on where the action is, the Big Four. EOI means Expression of Interest.

Ontario Human Capital priorities: FSW Selected by OINP based on candidates’ Express Entry profile Yes No
  1. Express Entry profile under FSW stream
  2. At least 1 year work experience within last 5 years in same NOC category as occupation in your Express Entry profile
  3. Bachelor’s Degree or higher or equivalent
  4. Have sufficient funds to settle in Ontario
