The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program recruits foreign workers who have specialized occupational or entrepreneurial skills. Through an agreement with the Government of Canada, the provincial government may nominate immigrants, who can contribute to the economic and social goals of the province, for permanent resident status.

General

Newfoundland and Labrador is a province of Canada on the country's Atlantic coast in northeastern North America. This easternmost Canadian province comprises two main parts: the island of Newfoundland off the country's eastern coast, and Labrador on the mainland, to the northwest of the island. Although Labrador is very large, the population is extraordinarily low with 92% of the province's population living on the island of Newfoundland.  The City of St John's is the Capital and also the largest city in the province.

 

Industry

The service Industry offers the most employment in the Province with industries such as financial services, health care and public administration. Other significant industries are mining, oil production and manufacturing. Newfoundland & Labrador has a largely increasing tourism industry leading to growing employment in the hospitality sector.

 

Climate

Newfoundland and Labrador is home to a variety of climates and weather. The weather is completely different in Labrador than it is in Newfoundland. Also the weather varies whether you are on the east or west coast. Overall Newfoundland has one of the harshest climates in Canada. About the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program

Nominees must settle in the province and have sufficient ability to communicate in either English or French. Depending upon the program category in which an application is submitted, specific financial and other criteria will apply.
